Update: ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ to be a Web Series

In a move that has the internet aghast yet unsurprised, Syfy has banished Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome from its colony in the cable universe and relegated it to being a web series. This comes on the heels of a trailer that has set the nerdverse ablaze with enough excitement to buy 2 Blu-ray sets of season 1 of this never-to-air TV series. This may be due to the lack of ratings success of Caprica, but come on, what does Syfy expect? Caprica was about people building robots who are sad ‘n’ stuff. Blood and Chrome is about Vipers, Cylons, spaceships, explosions, and, well, Blood and Chrome. That’s why we watched Battlestar in the first place! Part of me thinks that there may be an unintentional method to this madness. Maybe this will be a show that will allow us to make a clean break from the bonds of the cable TV schedule, but I can’t expect that kind of intellect from people who put wrestling on a Science Fiction channel.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome Trailer Hits the Internet

http://youtu.be/mstppoWXPxE

If this is all the spaceships we get on television…then I approve! This trailer has strapped me back into the BSG band wagon and shot me out a launch tube! There has been some concern that the whole movie is shot on green screen, and I say, good job! I couldn’t tell what was composited and what wasn’t. Play this one real quick folks, because NBC Universal has been hitting these videos with DMCA take-down notices like nobody’s business.

Beast Wars Megatron for Transformer of the year- YES…

David Willis, creator the webcomic, Shortpacked!, has gotten rather involved in the campaign for the 2012 inductee into Hasbro’s Transformers hall of fame. His candidate is none other than Megatron from one of Vancouver’s entries into the Transformers saga: Beast Wars! I gotta say, I’m with him on this one. Frank Welker’s Megatron was the epitome of cruelty, but you could just feel the scheming bubbling through David Kaye’s performance. His Megatron was in it for the long con, willing to toy with his enemies just to see their faces once they were well and truly screwed. He was also laid back enough to let his Tyrannosaurus form have roller skates from time to time. Whatever the outcome, I hope he keeps selling these shirts. The campaign ends today, so get  voting!

CW’s Green Arrow Costume Revealed

The CW has released the first photos of the Green Arrow’s new costume for the new TV series Arrow. It looks like the colourful comic book look of the original hero has been eschewed for a darker, edgier look. Again. I understand that masked heroes have to be good at hiding to protect their identities, but is all that brooding really necessary?

Felicia Day Will Guest Star On Supernatural

Cinemablend reports that Felicia Day will be appearing on Supernatural later this April. Day plays an computer hacker who inadvertently finds herself working for Dick Roman, Leader of the Leviathans, this season’s most prolific arch-villains. The episode is called “The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo”, which I hope doesn’t mean Felicia Day has to shave her eyebrows or something.

Battlestar Galactica Roller Coaster at Universal Studios Singapore

For the love of all that is holy, THERE EXISTS A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ROLLER COASTER!! There are two entrances to the ride, human and cylon. One coaster is standing, the other leaves your feet dangling in space. Both coasters twist and turn in a desperate dogfight for galactic supremacy. Nothing could be more awesome than this if only it weren’t 10,000 miles away in Singapore. Realize this and despair. So say we all.
