Fringe To Return for a Proper Sendoff in its 5th Season

Fringe’s Twitter revival campaign appears to have worked, and Fox has ordered a 13 episode Fifth season to air this fall. This might be an abbreviated last kick at the can, but I believe every show should get a chance end off properly. After all, television is an art, not an industrial process. There are some anime shows that only lasted for 1 season that are still kicking out spin-offs and trading figures, and I think they can all owe that solid legacy to a tight ending and fewer filler episodes.

Stargate SG-1 composer Joel Goldsmith Passes Away at 54

Stargate fans everywhere are in mourning as Joel Goldsmith, composer of over 300 Stargate episodes and 3 DVD films passed away last Sunday at age 54. Goldsmith had adapted David Arnold’s theme from the Stargate movie for the TV series in 1997. Since then his music has been responsible for much of the sense of epic struggle between good and evil featured throughout the Stargate Franchise. Gateworld’s Twitter feed has been reposting memories and sentiments from fans, cast and crew of Joel Goldsmith and his work.

‘Axe Cop’ Animated Series Coming to Fox

http://youtu.be/4ZquaoUMfIc

Television is about to get awesome. We all know Axe Cop as the web comic that was drawn by a 29-year-old and written by his 5-year-old brother. Variety reports that the Fox network has ordered 6 15-minute episodes of Axe Cop to be shown in their Animation Domination block along with The Simpsons and Family Guy for the 2013-14 TV season. Unfortunately, the series will probably be written by adults, and in keeping with TV’s more conservative mores, will be shown on an adult schedule. Let’s all hope that they can keep the series inimitable insane logic intact! At the very least they should be able to bring that badass narrator back.

MacGyver’s Houseboat Listed on eBay

The boathouse used during the Vancouver seasons of MacGyver has been posted on eBay by the owner. The house was the base of operations for Richard Dean Anderson’s gadget-building crimefighter in the 1980’s. The house has since been painted bright blue, and its Coal Harbour berthing has probably sent its value skyrocketing. Owner Dave Edmonson has refused to disclose the reserve on it, but the 2 million dollar sale of the boathouse from Sleepless in Seattle means Aunt Patty and Selma are probably have to take out 3rd and 4th mortgages to afford this baby.

Continuum Trailer Reveals Vancouver of 2077

Showcase has released a new trailer for its new series Continuum. The show features Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron, a government agent who follows a group of terrorists from the year 2077 back to 2012. This shot of future Vancouver will probably only be seen in the pilot, but hopefully there will be more opportunity for futuristic whiz-bangery in our fair city as the series progresses.

Supernatural May See 8th season

Supernatural may yet get a stay of execution on news that showrunner Sera Gamble may be leaving and former producer Jeremy Carver will be returning to the show. Carver had left Supernatural last year to produce Being Human for Syfy. This latest spate of activity in top management indicates that the CW is willing to spend more resources to keep one of it’s strongest ratings performers on the air.

Tweet #WhereYouBelong to save Fringe

The producers of Fringe have gone to twitter in a last ditch attempt to save their favourite show from cancellation. The hashtag #WhereYouBelong was seen during last week’s episode, causing fans to tweet and speculate about its meaning. Fox has decided to show new hashtags for each of the 7 new episodes left in Fringe’s run, but will it be enough to save the show?

The First ever Fringe Fan Event is taking place in Vancouver on August 10-12, and pre-reg passes have already sold out! The show may have enough juice for a 5th season yet.

X-Files Reunion Coming April 22nd

The Fox Network is hosting an X-files Re-union for its 25th Anniversary Special on April 22nd. Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and Chris Carter will be on hand along with reunions from Married: With Children, Ally McBeal, and Beverly Hills 90210. With all these shows getting a retrospective, I just know somebody’s going to be pissed at the lack of a Brisco County Jr. or Space: Above and Beyond reunion.
