Behold! The Many things Based on BattleStar Galactica

If you feel like your life needs a little more Battlestar Galactica in it, the internet has provided you with more options than ever.

First, there’s this 12-inch scale replica of the eponymous starship modeled by PSEUDOLO. It probably doesn’t come with that sweet paint job, but apparently it’s a really well-built kit.

You can also carry around your data in this USB flash drive from Anovos Productions.

Anovos is also producing these double tank tops, which admittedly made no sense to me in the series.

Seattle LAN Parties in Chaos after Mountain Dew Disaster

Plans to enjoy harrowing local games of Diablo III and Counterstrike in Seattle this weekend were all but dashed when a truck carrying the all-important Mountain Dew was sliced in two by light rail train in Seattle. It’s not clear at this time what caused the truck to stop on the rail tracks, but gamers should be advised to stock up as supplies could be limited. Levels of other necessary supplies, such as doritos, chex mix, cheetoes, and red vines, should also be monitored as the situation develops.

The Arrow Trailer Released and is Surprisingly Awesome

The CW has released the first trailer for The Arrow, and show looks like an awesome way to spend a school night. Many people were afraid that just because the Green Arrow was a lesser known superhero that the CW was just cashing in. It turns out that in this economy, nobody can afford to not think things through in television

Real Housewives of Vancouver Encroaches on the BC Film Industry

I thought had heard the last of Vancouver’s foray into the realm of gossip porn, but alas it was not to be. An article from canada.com is championing the series for giving the BC film industry a new lease on life as productions move to Toronto and Australia. To top it off, we might be getting our own version of the Bachelor. So depressing. Is this what everyone going through VFS and Capilano right now is dying to produce? Are they spending two years and 5 figures learning how to create imaginary creatures who can act an emote just so they can edit together a bunch of harpies who can do neither?

I will say this about the Real Housewives: That show makes Vancouver look frakking gorgeous. If we had more shows making good use of those helicopter shots of the Sea to Sky, who’s to say we wouldn’t see more scripted television?

The Infographic from Geek Pride Day

Friday, May 25th was crowned Geek Pride Day, as it was the date of the premier of the first Star Wars Movie, 35 years ago. I personally thought May the 4th was a perfectly fine Geek Pride Day, but whatever. I’m always on the look out for statistics trying to define the sociology of Geek, because as a people we are starting to define our society at large. Like the cowboy and the knight and shining armour, it’s probably going to be the 21st century’s period costume.

Oops: BBC Mistakes ‘Halo’ Logo For United Nations Emblem [VIDEO]

This has to be one of the oddest graphic goofs I’ve seen. While reporting on the conflict in Syria, the crew of the BBC posted the United Nations Space Command logo from Halo instead of the UN Security Council logo. This was probably the result of a google image search gone horribly wrong. Still, it’s not like Syria couldn’t use a visit from the Master Chief at this point.

GameStop EXPO Says “Fine, We’ll Start Our Own Con…Almost”

Penny Arcade Expo’s passes have already come and gone 4 months before the event even launched. So what’s a gamer to do if he want to get his hot little hands on the latest betas? Gamestop has grudgingly offered to extend its employee only show in San Antonio, Texas to the public… for a full 5 hours. On August 19th 11:00am to 4:00pm, gamers will get the chance to briefly glimpse the offerings of all the top publishers. Man, I know the Penny Arcade formula is in desperate need of duplication, but the Screw Attack Gaming Convention is coming up in July, so let’s send a message that gamers can’t be treated like this and go there instead, okay?

Camp Half Blood Rain or Shine

I’ve located a couple interesting sets of images from the set of Percy Jackson 2. Yvrshoots has some pics of the Camp Half-blood set caught under a torrential rainstorm, while Hollywood North on Location ‘s shots are depicting pure fun in the sun. It just goes to show you that Vancouver’s weather (and Zeus’ temperament for that matter) is cruel mistress indeed.
