Anime Evolution Returns!

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but Anime Evolution has returned! According to the official website, the ownership of the convention was turned over from the former corporate entity to an official BC non-profit society. This means that Anime Evolution will be able to have partnerships with other conventions, like Sakuracon and Anime Expo. For now, they will be focusing on restoring their forums, honouring pre-sold attendee passes for Anime Evolution 2011, and running events in 2012. There will be a booth at Kotatsu on February 25th. What form will the new convention take? Where will it be held? More importantly, what is their relationship with Anime Revolution? Are the two conventions related, or are we headed for the Anime Convention Walk-off of the century? Keep an eye on this space for more info!

Once Upon a time Location Photos

More location photos from Once Upon a Time have surfaced over at Hollywood North on Location. The pics show Mayor Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) at the door of her mansion squaring off with Sheriff Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) over some papers. This may be a scene from the show’s forthcoming Alice in Wonderland episode. Hopefully that’s when Emma will finally be able to trip up the Mayor’s quest to ruin everything and everyone in Storybrooke.

Let’s face it, Raingeeks. If the Vancouver Canucks, or Seattle’s forthcoming NHL team are to take over the world of hockey, they will have to widen their scope if they are to find players with the right stuff. THQ Seeking “Partner” For Warhammer 40k MMO

After rumours of imminent bankruptcy and a NASDAQ share price of $0.66, THQ has resorted to seeking out investors to finance its Warhammer 40k: Dark Millenium MMO project, due out in 2014. Even with the company’s financial troubles it’s no surprise that THQ is seeking help. Bioware’s recently released Star Wars: The Old Republic cost over $100 million to produce, and it’s been the only game in almost a decade to even challenge World of Warcraft. Still, we should all hope that THQ is successful in finding a patron for Dark Millenium.  Relic Entertainment’s previous entries into the Warhammer lexicon, Dawn of War and Space Marine, were nothing short of superlative. It would be a shame for that streak to end.

Xbox Indie Developer Blames New Dashboard For Low Downloads

The latest Xbox live Update has done more than put more Axe ads on your Xbox 360. Kris Steele, creator of Hypership: Out of Control has discovered that the new interface has reduced the first day trial downloads of the Hypership sequel fall by over 50%. Anyone who goes on the new dashboard will only find indie games stashed under a tile called “game type” and new indie titles are not being shown in the same category as the official XBLA games or games on demand. Microsoft claims that the indie games section is still profitable, but with this kind of treatment, one has to wonder if their faith is waning.
